Glenbrook ladies improve to 3-2 in district play
GRAND CANE — The Glenbrook Lady Apaches traveled to Grand Cane Monday afternoon for a district game with the Central School Lady Pioneers.
The Lady Apaches' offense exploded for 17 runs and shut out Central School, 17-0.
"I was really pleased with the way we swung the bats," Lady Apache head coach Jonathan Hardy said. "It was good to see us score that many runs."
The Lady Apaches banged out 12 hits led by Peyton Ruple's' inside-the-park home run. Rayla Hardaway went two-for-two with two triples and three runs scored and Shelby Nicholas went two-for-three with a single, triple and two runs scored. Melody Hanson doubled twice and Kristin Sherrell singled twice.
Carsin Spurlock legged-out a triple and Macie Branch singled and scored twice. Jessica Mangrum added a base hit and scored twice.
Mangrum also shined on the mound as she threw a no-hitter against Central School.
"Jessica threw the ball well," Hardy said. "She was in charge out there."
The ladies improved to 3-2 in district play and are now 7-8 overall.
Up next for the Lady Apaches is a game at Franklin Academy at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
