Funeral services for Deloris Major Bailey Moore, 66, will be held Saturday, August 27 at 1 p.m. at the 14th District Building. Burial will follow in Pleasant Cemetery in Homer. Family hour will be held today (Friday, August 26) from 6 until 7 p.m. at Benevolent Funeral Home.
Deloris was born Jan. 15, 1945 to Jewel Major and Annie Mae Ferrell and reared by R.B. Ferrell after her father passed.
She was a 1964 graduate of Webster High School. After graduating, Deloris attended Southern University for three years, majoring in accounting. She later was employed at LAAP for three years. She retired from South Central Bell after 30 years of service. After retiring, she worked part-time at Harrah's Louisiana Downs until her health failed.
She is survived by her husband, Willie James Moore; daughter, Pashala Bailey Germany; son, Barron Tommez Bailey, reared and adopted son, Sa Derion Bailey; grandchildren, Passoniate Bailey, Luis Bailey, Tommarz Bailey, TaShun Tommez Bailey, Barron Semaj Bailey, T-Kaya Flournoy and Lakedra Kinsey; great-granddaughter, Essence Stanley; godson that was truly dear to her, Taurus Torez (Andrea) Jones and Darren Wilson; sisters, Minnie Hollingsworth (Johnny Wilson), Loretta (Anthony) Mayfield and Annette (Britt) Moody; brothers, Kevin (Erika) Ferrell and Kenneth Ferrell; special daughter from the heart, Karen Montgomery; a special nephew she took in and raised, Delandry Winzer; and two best friends, Dean Bowie Myles and Joyce Ivory Hamilton.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Annie Ferrell; father, Jewel Major; step-father, R.B. Ferrell; two sisters, Freda Ferrell and Debbie Ferrell; two brothers, Murray Major and Charles Fielding; and a daughter-in-law that can never be replaced, Chondreal Flournoy Bailey.
