Minden High rolls in two weekend games

Lakeside falls to Minden and beats Loyola in round-robin games

SIBLEY—In the three-game round robin Saturday, the Minden Crimson Tide came out on top as they went undefeated in their two games. Lakeside went 1-1 and Loyola went 0-2.

Minden defeated Loyola, 10-4 in the early game, then Lakeside shut out the Flyers, 10-0 in the second game. In the finale, the Crimson Tide shut down and shut out the Warriors, 5-0.

baseball2In their game one 10-4 win over Loyola, the Tide jumped out with six runs in the bottom of the first inning. They would later added four in the fifth and pitcher Chase Toland would hold the Flyers to just for runs.Toland went all seven innings, scattering six hits and three earned runs while striking out one.

Sam Shoemaker led the offense with a home run and two RBIs, and Carson Bolyer added a pair of doubles and two RBI. Keith Oliver tripled and singled, and Coltan haynes had a pair of hits. Hunter and Hutton Leppert both singled, as did Derek Herrington and Bryant Stanberry. Javion Johnson also drove in a run.

In game two, the Warriors held Loyola to just three hits as they shut them out 10-0.

The Warriors scored four runs in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and three in the fifth to close out their win.

Koty Monday was the winning pitcher for Lakeside, and Colby Sherrard went three-for-four and Brooks Gray banged out two hits.
In the game three match-up that everyone wanted to see, Minden beat Lakeside 5-0.

The Crimson Tide scored a run in the top of the first inning off Warrior starter Lance McGuire. Minden would come back with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, and then add a final two runs in the top of the seventh to make the final 5-0.

Derek Herrington took the win for the Tide as he held lakeside to just three hits. He went all seven innings and struck out two.

Hunter Leppert led the way at the plate, as he singled, homered and drove in three runs. Shoemaker legged out a triple and Bolyer added a double. Hutton Leppert and Javion Johnson both added singles and Thomas Pevy added a RBI.

The Lakeside Warriors are now 22-10 on the year, and the Crimson Tide improves their overall record to 11-18.
