Computer swapper crashes at work

Tammy_HolmesElectronics manager arrested for stealing iPads and returning them

Christmas may have been good at Tammy Holmes' house, but the new year has proven unlucky with the Shreveport woman's arrest by Minden Police.

Holmes, 41, of the 9700 block of Baird Road, is charged with felony theft over $1,500 after stealing two iPads® and an iPad Mini® from the local discount store where she was the assistant manager over the electronics department.

"She told us she wanted her kids to have a good Christmas," said Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper. "But then, she brought the iPads back to the store to swap them, and that's how security ended up getting on to her."

Cropper said Holmes was arrested Tuesday by Det. Chris Cheatham, Det. Keith King, Jr. and Ofc. Ben Allen.

"Holmes admits she stole the items valued at more than $1,500 during December and January," Cropper said. "She brought the iPad Mini back to the store and exchanged it for an iPad on December 27. On January 6, Holmes brought back a different iPad which was a demo version and exchanged it for a $500 gift card."

One iPad is still missing, Cropper said, however, Holmes told officers it is at her Shreveport residence.

"She said she exchanged the iPad for money so she could pay her electric bill," said the chief.

Holmes was booked at the Minden Police Department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
