Annual bowl half-time performance is second time for both girls
Local sisters Sharity Brent and Jacie Brent have been invited to be a part of the official Capital One Bowl half-time performance cast again this year.
Both Sharity and Jacie earned All American awards while attending the American Dance/Drill Team summer camps last year and performed at the bowl on January 2, 2012.
Sharity, a junior at Minden High School and a Louisi-Anne, was chosen as an All American performer this year and was invited to perform in the British New Year's Day Parade in London. However, she chose the Capital One Bowl instead.
"I enjoyed it so much last year and really wanted to perform again this year with my sister (Jacie)," Sharity said.
Jacie is a PepStepper at Webster Junior High.
"Because PepSteppers chose to have a home camp this year, Jacie was unable to try out for All American," Sharity said. "But being a current PepStepper leader, she was selected due to her previous All American status. We are extremely excited and cannot wait to hit the field to perform with Dierks Bentley on New Year's Day."
CMA Award-winning singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley will be performing at the 2013 Capital One Bowl.
"We're delighted to take the excitement of the Capital One Bowl to even greater heights by having Dierks Bentley perform a free concert at our FanFest," said Roger Ferguson, Managing Vice President-Advertising and Sponsorship at Capital One. "Having a country music star followed by what will be a highly entertaining bowl game is sure to make New Year's Day memorable in Orlando."
This year the Capital One Bowl will feature the Georgia Bulldogs and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The New Year's Day classic will kick off in its traditional 1 p.m. ET (noon CDT) slot on January 1 from Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando and will be televised nationally by ESPN on ABC.
In addition to their New Year's performance in Orlando, "All American" cast members will visit attractions in Central Florida including Universal Orlando theme parks Walt Disney World.
"Our favorite park is Disney's Hollywood Studios," the sisters said. "We could spend all day on the Tower of Terror ride."
"The Capital One Bowl Halftime Show is consistently hailed as the most spectacular New Year's Day production in the country," executive Bruce Hart explains, "Only the nation's top students who meet stringent ' All American ' cast selection criteria qualify to receive this fantastic New Year's performance opportunity, this is by no means an 'Open Call' production."
Sharity and Jacie would like to invite everyone to watch the game and "America's Best Halftime Show" on ABC New Year's Day at 1 p.m.
