RINGGOLD — The Lakeside Warriors traveled to Ringgold Monday night and came home with a 49-41 victory.
"It was good to get a win," Lakeside head coach Jason Gould said. "The win moves us to 2-5 going into the Minden Tournament on Wednesday."
Lakeside led the Redskins 12-7 at the end of the first quarter and then increased their lead to seven points (23-16) at the half.
"We felt OK about the way we played in the first half," Gould said. "Even though we thought we really should have had a bigger lead."
The Warriors came out strong in the third quarter, out-scoring the Redskins 15-5 and then held off a Ringgold rally in the fourth to take the 49-41 win.
"They out-scored us 20-11 in the fourth quarter," Gould said. "They started pressuring us and we got a little careless here and there, but luckily we were able to withstand their comeback with some easy baskets at the end. We also hit a couple of free throws that were big. I fell pretty good about the way we played."
Lance Taylor led the Warriors with 13 points and Jamario Teal had a big game with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Frankie Miles had 10 points, Darryl Moore had six and Deandre Shehee had five. Davion Whiting added three points.
