Evacuated residents return home today

Evacuated Doyline residents are able to return home today, following a week of displacement, and life may now return to normal for most.

The evacuation order for the area surrounding Camp Minden was lifted at noon today; however, according to Louisiana State Police, restrictions for parts of Camp Minden remain in effect until the operation is concluded.

Classes at Doyline School are scheduled to resume Monday.

Louisiana State Police Emergency Services personnel and Explo Systems employees continue to segregate improperly stored propellant and relocate it to proper storage areas.

Thursday, the sixth day of operations, nearly 200,000 pounds of the improperly stored M6 propellant was methodically removed then correctly stored in approved storage magazines.

This brings the six-day operations total to roughly 2.2 million pounds.

Operations resumed this morning and were scheduled to cease for the weekend at noon.

Operations are scheduled to resume again Monday, December 10.

Additionally, as a precaution, the Webster Parish Clerk of Courts would like to remind residents that Saturday's polling location has been relocated from within the current evacuation area to Westlake Baptist Church.
