Graveside services for Miles Kenneth "Ken" Adkins, 85, will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 at 2 p.m. in Cotton Valley Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Morgan officiating and eulogy by Jeff Thompson. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Cotton Valley.
Mr. Adkins was born Dec. 3, 1927 in Haynesville to Littleton John and Kathryn Beene Adkins and passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 in Arcadia.
He was a graduate of Homer High School. He was a letterman on the baseball team at LSU where he graduated with a degree in petroleum engineering. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and was Pacific League batting champion. He was a retired superintendent at Marathon Oil Company with 40 years of service. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and sports and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by a son, Mark Kenneth Adkins on April 21, 2012; by his parents; sister, Beatrice McCadden; and brother, Aubyn Lester Adkins.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Letitia Smith Adkins; daughter, Camille Adkins and husband, Larry Bromley of Ft. Worth, Texas; son, Scott Davidson Adkins and wife, Naomi of Shongaloo; grandchildren, Kacie Czapla and husband, Ty, Whitney Hargis and husband, Casey, Clint Adkins, Stephanie Adkins and Emily Clavier and husband, Brett.
