Parish Christmas Events Under Way

Wrap It Up!

"Wrap It Up Downtown!" kicks off at 4 p.m. today, and until 8 p.m., attendees may enjoy free trolley rides for children, refreshments and Santa.

"This is a fun event for everyone," said Pattie Odom, Downtown Development Director. "This is a great time to meet downtown business owners and find deals on gifts, while having relaxed fun."

Museums and galleries are open as downtown merchants offer store specials and drawings.

Shops selling antiques, art, jewelry, floral arrangements and gifts, formal wear, clothing, embroidered items, tools, toys and food will be open during the Wrap It Up Downtown event.

Santa in Sarepta

Santa Claus will be in north Webster Parish this Saturday taking part in the 4th Annual Sarepta Christmas Festival.

There will be daylong live entertainment, dozens of vendors, a children's bicycle parade, a silent auction with more than 100 prizes and more during the event.

The theme for this year's festival is "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree," and the tag line for promotional pieces is "Food, Fun, Entertainment, Crafts and much more!"

Activities include a youth climbing wall, two- story slide and a jumping house in the children's activity area. There will also be the silent auction, a car show and a chili cook-off.

"It's going to be a day of fund for the whole family," festival chair Mary Beth Shuler said. "We have a good little small town festival where people can have a day of good safe fun."

Shuler said the festival was started in an effort to bring the Sarepta community together and provide family entertainment at a low cost.

"Now we have grown and are happy to see people from all over the area come to our event," she said. "The weather should be nice, with lots of vendors, wonderful live entertainment and Santa will be there to see the children."

The event begins at 10 a.m. and will conclude with a fireworks show once the sun sets. Festivities will be held in the Town of Sarepta Park, which can be accessed by turning off Hwy 2 and onto Vine Street.
