Confession didn’t help

Dekiitricias_KennonMinden man in BDCC on possession charge

Admitting to having marijuana in his possession did not keep a Minden man out of Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

Dekiitricias Kennon, 21, of the 100 block of Magnolia Street, was arrested by Minden Police Officer Chris Hammontree and charged with possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana) with intent to distribute.

Chief Steve Cropper said Hammontree observed Kennon walking in front of J.L. Jones Elementary School and stopped to talk with the subject.

"Kennon was identified and while a routine warrant check was being run, Officer Hammontree noticed Kennon place his hand into his pocket.

"For officer safety, Hammontree asked Kennon to remove his hand from his pocket, which he did," Cropper said. "The officer asked Kennon if he had any weapons or anything illegal in his pockets, and Kennon admitted he had a 'bag of weed' in his front cargo pocket."

The officer reportedly removed a small bag of suspected marijuana from Kennon's pocket and placed him under arrest.

"During the search incident, Officer Hammontree located a clear plastic bag containing three smaller bags containing suspected marijuana," Cropper said.
