Pair hammers out problems

Heather_AuthementShannon_HaeseUsing real tools to build a relationship didn't work out well for a Lake Charles couple that migrated to Minden.

Heather Authement, 35, of the 2800 block of Sugar Low Drive, Lake Charles was arrested by Minden police Tuesday and charged with aggravated battery by domestic abuse violence after taking a hammer and a pair of shears to her boyfriend.

Shannon Haese, 37, of the 2700 block of Edgewood Lane, Lake Charles was also arrested and charged with domestic abuse battery.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said Off. Shawn Jenkins was dispatched in the evening hours to a residence on Lewisville Road where he discovered Authement walking from the side of the house holding a hammer in her right hand.

"Apparently, the couple had been to a bar in Shreveport where they had been drinking and got into an argument," Cropper said. "She took the hammer to him ... actually hit him with the hammer ... and then during the altercation, she picked up a pair of shears and tried to stab him in the leg ... but she was unsuccessful with that."

According to reports, Ofc. Chris Hammontree arrived to back up Off. Henderson.

"He got the parties separated and both were arrested," Cropper said. "Haese bonded out from the police department. Authement was booked at the PD and was transported to BDCC (Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center).

Cropper said after Haese posted bond, he returned to the police station to try and post bond for Authement.

"He was trying to get her out, saying he was in love with her, it was all a misunderstanding and he wanted her home," Cropper said.
