Anger and Worship

"So if you are offering your gift on the altar, and there you remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift." Matthew 5:23-24 HCSB

Feelings of anger or hatred not only weaken a person's relationship with a brother but also block the person's worship of God. Jesus illustrates how a person's attitude affects one's righteousness and relationship with God. He describes a person that is at the altar, a place of worship, and there remembers a hurtful, broken relationship with another person. That person must then seek reconciliation and then return to worship.

Lord Jesus, help me not to be angry or hold grudges. Instead, help me to live at peace with others, showing Your love and grace throughout my life.
