Crimson Tide to play in Monroe for chance to reach 4A semi-finals
The Minden Crimson Tide (26-5) will take on the Neville Tigers today in Monroe in the quarterfinals of the LHSAA Class 4A playoffs.
The Tide came into the playoffs as the #6 seed in 4A and has beaten #27 seed Morgan City (8-4) and #11 seed Archbishop Shaw (14-2).
Neville is the #14 seed and they beat #19 seed Breaux Bridge in the first round, and then upset #3 seed West Ouachita in round two.
Minden comes into the match-up red-hot averaging 11 runs a game. Derek Herrington has gotten the win on the mound in each game, as he's improved his overall record to 9-0.
Herrington and Turner Francis have led the Tide's offense, with a combined nine hits and 10 RBIs. In the two playoff wins. The rest of the Tide line-up has also hit the ball, as they banged out 15 hits against Archbishop Shaw and 13 against Morgan City. McCaul Lacobee, Sam Shoemaker, Javeion Johnston and Coltan Haynes have all had big games in the playoffs.
Game time is 6 p.m. at Neville High School.
