McKinley — Kaufman united in marriage

mckinnleyHeather M. McKinley of Minden and Joshua J. Kaufman of Meraux, Louisiana, were married on May 21, 2011, at 6 o'clock in the evening at First Baptist Church, Minden.

The bride is the daughter of Chad and Lisa McKinley of Minden. She is the granddaughter of Sandra Rush and the late Raymond Rush of Minden.

The groom is the son of Travis and Francine Kaufman of Meraux, Louisiana. He is the grandson of Michael and Janet Kaufman of Plaquemines, Louisiana as well as Tommy and Sandra Alfonso and the late Charles and Anna Long, all of St. Bernard.

The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a couture design by Sottero & Midgley from Azarue's. The chic strapless silhouette of diamond white hand beaded lace detailed with vintage pewter embroidery featured a satin band framing the Empire waist with crystal medallions. A frothy skirt of layered tulle extended from the fitted silhouette floating into a Chapel length train adorned with French lace appliqué.

Jessica Minard, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kathy Carr, Sarah Smith, Jess Harper, Lyndsy Bedell, Brittany Condra all friends of the bride, and Taylor Turner, Godchild of the bride. The bridesmaids wore strapless sweetheart dresses in clover green.

Brad Kaufman, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Kyle McKinley, brother of the bride, Sami Shalhoub, friend of the groom, P.J. Treadaway, cousin of the groom, Michael Paulina and Ernie Stephens, both friends of the groom, and Brent Ruiz, cousin of the groom.

Serving as candle lighters were JT and Hannah Turner. Harlie Stanford, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl and Spencer Fazzio, cousin of the groom, was the ring bearer.

The reception was held at The Orleans on Main with family members serving the event. Johnny Couch as the DJ provided music. Darlene Couch coordinated the wedding.

After their wedding the newly-weds took a trip to Jamaica (Montego Bay).

Heather is a 2004 graduate of Minden High, a 2006 graduate of Bossier Parish Community College with an Associates Degree in Physical Therapy Assistance and a 2009 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Kinesiology.

She currently attends Texas Women's University where she is completing her Doctorate degree of Physical Therapy and will graduate in May of 2012.

Joshua is a 2004 graduate of Archbishop Phillip M. Hannan High School and 2009 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. He is employed with Baker Hughes in Lafayette as a Mechanical Engineer.

The couple will reside in Lafayette, Louisiana.
