Parish dispatcher facing indecency, solicitation charges

ANTHONY_BAKERA Webster Parish dispatcher has been arrested following an investigation into his alleged indecency with two juveniles.

Anthony Lane Baker, 21, of Doyline was taken into custody late Wednesday and charged with two counts each of indecent behavior with juveniles and computer-aided solicitation and five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He is currently at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on bond amounts totaling $35,000.

Tuesday, complaints were made by parents of the victims to sheriff's investigators. At that time, Sheriff Gary Sexton placed Baker on administrative leave while detectives began their investigation.

"While the case is still under investigation, sufficient evidence was gathered during yesterday's interviews," Sexton said. "Searches of Baker's home and cell phone resulted in his arrest on these charges."

Sexton received word Thursday from Baker's attorney that he has opted to submit a letter of resignation from his employment with the Webster Parish Sheriff's Office.

"So Baker is no longer affiliated with this office," Sexton said.

Allegedly, Baker solicited two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, for sexually-based acts and offered them alcoholic beverages on different occasions.

"There were no physical advances made on these minors," Sexton said. "Yet, Baker's requests for sexual acts were highly illegal, lewd and unacceptable. I commend the parents for getting involved before the situation worsened."

Sheriff's investigators continue their investigation, which may indicate a need for additional charges.
