J.D., affectionately known as "Jr. Boy" or "Bear-Bear," was the youngest of seven children born to J.D. Hudson, Sr. and Ludy Warren Hudson, who both preceded him in death.

He accepted Christ and was baptized at Growing Valley Baptist Church in Minden. At the time of death, he was faithful member of the Unity of Faith Baptist Church where he was in training for being ordained as a deacon of the church.

After receiving his elementary, then completing his secondary education in 1973 from Webster High School, J.D. earned a basketball scholarship to Grambling State University where he played basketball and graduated with a degree in Education 1976.

His teaching career was spent at Shreve Island Elementary School, Lakeshore and Oak Terrance Middle School while his coaching career included Midway and Bethune Middle School, all located in Shreveport. His love for sports led him to become a referee, subsequently retiring from the Louisiana High School Association (LAHSAA) as a lifetime official. During and after retirement from the Caddo Parish School System, J.D. spent much time volunteering and nurturing youth. He received awards for "Volunteer of the Year" from both Shreveport Parks and Recreation (SPAR) and Bill Cockrell Park and Recreation Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mallie Harris.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marie Ross Hudson; his children, Jason Deon Hudson (Keianna), Minden, Tamika Harrison, Katy Texas and De Mar Harrison, Shreveport; three brothers, Edward Hudson (Velma), L.D. Hudson (Margaret) both of Shreveport and Bunny R. Hudson (Dorothy) of Minden; two sisters, Tressie Rhodes, Los Angeles, California and Annie Ruth Walker of Minden; three godchildren, Ebony Ford and Jeek Woodley, both of Mansfield and Jaylen McClinton, Shreveport; and a host of other family members and friends.
