Apaches advance at South State

Lady Apaches fall to Tallulah

RAYVILLE — The Glenbrook Apaches advanced to the South State quarter-finals with a 71-42 win over Amite in Rayville on Wednesday.

The Lady Apaches were not as fortunate, as they were eliminated by Tallulah, 56-47.

The Apaches led 17-9 at the end of the first quarter, and 38-22 at the half. They built their lead to 57-28 going into the fourth quarter and cruised to the 71-42 win.

"We came out a little flat," Apache head coach Todd Spurlock said. "I think we may have taken them a little lightly. We didn't play as aggressive as we have in the last few games, but we got the job done."

Jalen Patterson led the Apaches with 21 points and Caleb Wilson scored 11. Cade Spurlock and Sam Marvin each scored 10 points, and Regan Edwards added eight.

"We had some other kids really step up for us last night," Spurlock said. "Sam Marvin and Caleb Wilson both played well and added some scoring for us, which was good. I hope we can keep that up."

The Apaches will now advance to the South State quarter-finals and will play Franklin Academy on Friday.

"This win puts us in the Final 4 of South State and guarantees us a spot in the State Tournament," Spurlock said. "But Friday night's game is the most important game of our season thus far. We really need to win this game to get to the semis. Hopefully we can go on to win South State."

The Apaches will play Franklin Academy at 2:15 p.m. on Friday in Rayville.
