Glenbrook takes two wins in Hope

HOPE, AR. — The Glenbrook Apaches and Lady Apaches traveled to Hope, Arkansas to play a pair of games with Garrett Memorial.

The Apaches beat the Saints, 67-64, and the Lady Apaches won, 39-26.

"It was a great win for us," Apaches head coach Todd Spurlock said. "They were a better team than we expected, and a lot bigger than we were. But it was a good win. Our guys have won a lot of close games this year, and we feel real comfortable as we head down the stretch."

The Apaches trailed 18-14 at the end of the first quarter but rallied for a 37-33 halftime lead. The Apaches then led 53-49 heading into the fourth quarter and went on to win, 67-64.

"We were fortunate to hold on for the win," Spurlock said. "We led by six or seven points for most of the way, but they cut down the lead to one point with under 10 seconds left."

The Apaches turned the ball over at this point, but were able to get a defensive stop and then made some free throws to close out the win.

Jalen Patterson led the Apaches with 41 points and Cade Spurlock dropped in 10. Reagan Edwards scored eight points.

"It was a good road win," Spurlock said. "It moved our record to 20-4 on the year."

The Lady Apaches beat the Lady Saints, 39-26.

"The girls played a great game," Lady Apache coach Rendi Dillard said. "We were down four girls due to sickness, so they really had to come together as a team and they did."

Lauren Sims led the team with 16 points and Carsin Spurlock had 12. Jessica Mangrum dropped in four points and Macie Branch added three. Gracyn Gorman and Catherine Willis each scored two points.
