For the 22nd year in a row, Minden High School will host their annual Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament.
Staring this year, Gibsland Bank & Trust will be the title sponsor.
"We are very excited and looking forward to Gibsland Bank & Trust being our title sponsor," Minden High boys basketball head coach Alan Shaw said. "We feel like it's going to be a good match. They are made up of local people that have been very supportive of Minden High and the local community and we're really looking forward to working with them and making the tournament even more successful than it has ever been before."
This year's tournament will begin Wednesday and run through Saturday, December 15. And this year's tournament promises to be the biggest and toughest tournament to date.
" We have a lot of quality teams coming this year," Shaw said. "We have a lot of teams that are state ranked and have plenty of state tournament experience, so we expect a lot of quality games."
Lady Tiders head coach Jacob Brown is also excited about this year's tournament.
"I think we have as good a field as we ever have," he said. "We have 16 girls teams and I think it's going to be wide open. Anybody can win it. I think the field is as balanced as its ever been, and there will be a lot of very good first round games. For any basketball fan this will be a great event to attend."
This year's tournament field will be bigger than ever. Teams from Minden, Lakeside, Doyline, North Webster, Lakeview, Ringgold, Red River, Jonesboro-Hodge, Captain Shreve, Woodlawn, Benton, Arcadia, El Dorado (Ark.), Haynesville, North Caddo, Ruston, Calvary and Huntington are scheduled to participate.
