DOYLINE — The Doyline basketball teams took a pair of wins over Stanley at home Monday night.
The Panthers blew out Stanley, 106-48, and the Lady Panthers won 65-33.
"Both teams played well," Doyline head coach Michael Normand said. "We actually have a few girls missing right now, so we were a little short handed."
The Lady Panthers led 11-5 after the first quarter and then led 31-17 at the half. Doyline then out-scored Stanley 34-16 in the second half to take the win.
"We couldn't really get any pressure with being short handed, so we just kind of sat back and tried to stay out of foul trouble," Normand said. "We had more size than they did, so we just fed Amber (Ary) down low."
Ary led the Lady Panthers with 28 points and Chantrell Johnson scored 20. Shanelle Allen added seven points.
The Panthers jumped out to a 32-9 first quarter lead and never looked back, winning 106-48.
"It was just one of those games where we caught fire," Normand said. "We scored 43 points in the third quarter, and most of that came in about four minutes."
Doyline scored 22 in the second, 43 in the third and cleared the bench in the fourth, scoring just nine.
"It was one of those games where everything we threw up went in," Normand said. "But Stanley is a better team than that, and when we play them at their places in about two weeks it will be a much tougher game."
Lawrence Hester led Doyline with 31 points and Donnie Brooks scored 16. Justice Lindsey added 13.
The Panthers are now 5-4 on the year, while the Lady Panthers improved to 6-2. The Doyline teams will host Summerfield on Thursday.
