Phillips student wins regional essay contest

A Minden student is a finalist in a national essay competition.

Jack Flynn, a sixth grader at Phillips Middle School, won the south central division of the Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest, besting students in his grade from Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri and Arkansas. He was recognized at the DAR convention in Lafayette last month.
