Funeral services for Mr. John Edgar Wilson, 68, will be held Wednesday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Calm Baptist Church with the Rev. T. A. Knapp, officiating. Interment will follow at Walker Cemetery.
John Edgar Wilson was born July 4, 1944 in Bienville Parish to Albert Dan Wilson and Hervie Lee Bell Wilson. He was the youngest of three sons born to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson.
He accepted Christ at a very early age and joined the Mt. Calm Baptist Church and was an active member until his demise.
John was a graduate of the Webster High School Class of 1962. He continued his educational pursuits at Southern University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. Upon graduating from college, he relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he was employed by Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation. Later in life, John returned home to Minden and became employed as Assistant Manager of Save-A-Lot Foods.
He devoted much of his time to the care of his mother and brothers. John was also active in the community and the Webster High School Reunion of Classes.
God called home one of his angels, Mr. John Edgar Wilson, on July 12, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Eddie and Albert.
John leaves to cherish his precious memories a loving and devoted son, Darren Wilson and wife, Mitzie; two grandchildren, Deara Wilson and Christian Blanton Wilson; special friend, Clara McCoy; nieces, Fredda Jones and Danielle Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 17 in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Services are entrusted to Kennon's Mortuary. Email condolences may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
