Mary Evelyn Dunn McElhanon Henry

Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Evelyn Dunn McElhanon Henry, 86, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011 in Springhill Cemetery. Burial followed under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.

The family received friends and shared memories on Sunday from 2 until 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Henry was born Jan. 21, 1925 in Shongaloo to Wylie Mac and Sarah L. Mitchell Dunn and passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011 in Norwood, Massachusetts. She had been a resident of Plainville, Massachusetts for the past seven years and a former resident of Camden, Arkansas. Mrs. Henry was a kind, sweet-hearted strong woman.

She was a vibrant spitfire with a southern accent that would melt anyone's heart and was a beautiful woman inside and out. Her caring ways and strength have been passed down through our generations, her love of people and kindness and caring was shown through her ascertainment of her license in Practical Nursing (LPN). Mrs. Henry worked at the Springhill Hospital as "lead nurse" on the graveyard shift. The things she enjoyed the most were crocheting, quilting, cooking, sewing, gardening, being outside and, most of all, being with her family and eating around the supper table.

She is survived by her son, Billy Mac McElhanon and wife, Maureen; grandchildren, Billy and wife, Shahira, Deva and Mark, Jennifer and Mike, Amanda and Mike; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Spencer, Lilah, Norah, Simon, Billy, Troy, Marietta Evelyn; brothers, Claymon Dunn and Calvin Dunn; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husbands, Mot McElhanon and Curtis Henry; her brother and four sisters.
