A late-night fight turned into a stabbing Wednesday when the scuffle between two subjects escalated.
Dameionia Gilbert, 27, of the 600 block of Chestnut Street was arrested for aggravated second degree battery.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper said Off. Jonathan Odom was dispatched around 10:40 p.m. to a Chestnut Street address in reference to a disturbance between Gilbert and another male subject.
"Off. Odom arrived at the scene first," Cropper said. "Both subjects that were involved had left the scene, but he obtained a description of the two men."
Cropper said the descriptions were transmitted to Ofc. Chris McClaran and Ofc. Justin Kemp.
"When McClaran was close to the scene, he saw Gilbert running down the street," Cropper said.
McClaran made contact with Gilbert and contained him while officers sorted out the information.
"According to an eyewitness who was looking out a window, Gilbert was hiding behind a porch at the Chestnut Street address, and as the victim arrived and was walking into the residence, Gilbert jumped him and an altercation took place between the two."
The victim reportedly attempted to leave in his vehicle.
"Gilbert got behind the car to keep him from leaving," said the chief. "The victim exited his vehicle and the altercation started again.
"At some point and time during this altercation, Gilbert pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the victim in the right buttock," Cropper said. "Officers were unable to locate the knife. They took Gilbert into custody and charged him with aggravated battery."
Gilbert was booked at the Minden Police Department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
Cropper said the victim was not interested in filing charges against Gilbert.
"Since the charge was second degree battery with a suspected knife, the victim wrote a statement," Cropper said. "The police department became the complainant and arrested Gilbert on behalf of the state."
