A story printed in Tuesday's Minden Press-Herald stated the U.S. Forest Service has lifted its proposed ban of using dogs to hunt deer on the federal forest lands of Kisatchie National Park in Louisiana. This applies only to the part of the state from Natchitoches Parish south.
According to a representative with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Caney Ranger District unit is a still-hunt area only.
"We have never had a deer dog season on Caney Ranger District," the representative said. "Nothing up here has changed – no dogs hunting for deer."
