The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has scheduled a public meeting to discuss an improvement project at the intersecton of La. Hwy. 531 and Interstate 20.
The meeting will be held Thursday, December 6 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Minden Civic Center.
DOTD representatives will be present to provide information, answer questions and present alternatives for roadway and capacity improvements at the intersection.
DOTD public information officer Susan Stafford said the proposed project is located along the La. 531 corridor from the Industrial Drive/I-20 Service Road to Jimmy Batton Road/Taylor Road in Webster Parish.
"The existing roadway is currently comprised of four lanes divided with a median from Industrial Drive/I-20 Service Road to the I-20 eastbound ramps," Stafford said. "The public meeting will present several design alternatives that will widen portions of the existing roadway to increase capacity near the interchange ramps."
According to Stafford, the project is currently in the environmental assessment phase. The next phase is design, which is estimated to complete in the fall 2015. DOTD estimates work on the project could begin in 2016.
"The meeting will allow the public to learn more about the project and to sign up to receive periodic email updates on the project's progression," Stafford said.
