A celebration of the life of Dorothy "Dot" Melancon will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel at 11 a.m. on Nov. 19, 2012, with Rev. Harold Coburn officiating.
Dot was born Dec. 15, 1935, to Grover and Ella England. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is also preceded in death by two husbands, Walter Evans and Richard Couture.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Clyde Melancon; her daughter, Donna Harris and her husband, Allan; her granddaughter, Caroline Harris; her sister, Mary Bagley and her husband, Arthur; and her cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dot never met a person that she didn't feel comfortable talking to. She had a host of devoted friends, some of whom she had known most of her life and some she had met since moving to Doyline on Horseshoe Loop. She was a generous person to both family and friends. No telephone conversation was ever too long. She was devoted to the welfare of her husband, retired Air Force Major and Vietnam Veteran Clyde Melancon. Her granddaughter, Caroline, gave her great joy and always brought a sparkle to her eyes. Her hobbies were fishing, crocheting and reading. She enjoyed visiting friends, trading and sharing her books with others.
We would like to thank all of the staff at the Willis-Knighton Cancer Treatment Center and the Cornerstone Hospital of Bossier City. And thanks to her special friends for always lending a helping hand when she needed it. She appreciated and loved them all.
