Dealing a hand for charity

Some proceeds go to United Christian Home

Get ready to go all in for a good cause this weekend as a local Mardi Gras Krewe is holding a fundraiser for a local charity.

The Krewe des Ambassadeurs is holding a No Limit Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament this Saturday at Orleans on Main in downtown Minden. A portion of the proceeds goes to the United Christian Home in Minden.

First prize is tentatively set to be a $3,500 Visa gift card, with Krewe members looking to give away a $1,750 gift card for second place a $1,000 gift card for third.

The buy-in is $75 with a $10 registration. The event is slated from 6 p.m until midnight.

"Krewe members have been training for weeks with a professional dealer and are looking forward to this fun-filled and action-packed night," said Krewe Chair Tim Borst.

Borst said the Krewe would be serving a variety of dishes, which the players can enjoy during the timed breaks.

"Playing poker is a lot of fun, and we hope you come join us," he said. "We think you will have a great time."
