Lula Mae Shyne Thompson

shyne782Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Mae Shyne Thompson will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011 at Phillips Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 2050 Germantown Street, Dayton, Ohio.

Interment and committal will follow at Woodland Cemetery, under the direction of Thomas Funeral Home, Inc., 4520 Salem Avenue, Trotwood, Ohio.

Lula Mae was the daughter of Willie and Athlene Harris Shyne, born in Claiborne Parish on Jan. 9, 1930. She was the ninth child out of 12 children.

Lula's elementary schooling was at Rocky Mount Rosewald Wall in Claiborne Parish. After completing her elementary education and moving to Minden, Webster Parish, she entered the high school class of 1950. She went on to Grambling State University to further her education.

Lula was converted August of 1945 and joined Springhill C.M.E. Church under the leadership of the Rev. C.S. Singleton.

On Sept. 23, 2011, the sweet spirit of Sister Thompson went to join Jesus Christ, the Saviour.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother; four brothers, William, Dave, Johnny and Bennie Shyne; and two sisters, Bernice Shyne Stanley and Cora B. Shyne.

She leaves to cherish precious memories three daughters; one god-daughter; one son; four sisters (two of Minden, Elva Manning and Pearleana Clark); one brother, the Rev. Oneal Shyne, Sr.; and a host of relatives and friends.
