Johnnie Stephens

Johnnie Stephens

On May 9, 1927 a baby boy was born to Mr. Shelly Stephens and Mrs. Pearlie Germany Stephens in Heflin. Johnny attended Pleasant Schools in Dubberly. He was employed at Woodard Walker Logging Company, later at Adolph Rice Company Houston, Texas. Johnny attended Pleasant Hill and Galilee Baptist churches. He was not a regular church goer, yet he loved the Lord. Johnny loved church services at Meadowview Nursing Home. My daddy and I had many conversions about God and his goodness.

In 1945 he was inducted into the US Navy. He was stationed at the Navy Training Center in Bainbridge, Mass. He was assigned to the USS Randolph where he fought in World War II. He traveled to Italy and the Mediterranean. After servicing his country He received an Honorable discharge June 4, 1949.
