Webster Community Services seeks representatives for board

Certification for candidates to fill vacant seats on the Board of Directors for the Webster Parish Office of Community Services opened April 2 and continue through April 15.

Mary Whitaker, Community Services Executive Director said the purpose of the certification is to elect representatives for the low-income residence from the Springhill/Cullen, Heflin/Dubberly, and the Dixie Inn/Doyline areas. The successful candidates will serve a five-year term. There is no pay or other compensation for service on the Board of Directors.

According to Whitaker, individuals seeking a seat on the board does not necessarily have to be living at or below the poverty level, but they must be elected by low-income residence living in the represented area.

Other qualification include, the candidate must be at least eighteen years of age and must be a resident of the district in which they are seeking election. The individual must circulate a petition and obtain at least 25 signatures from residents of the district. The individuals who sign the petitions must also be at least 18 years of age.

Petition forms may be obtained from the Office of Community Services at 208 Gleason Street in Minden or they may be obtained from the Community Services office in the South Mall in Springhill.

There is not filing fee. The filing deadline is 4:30 p.m. April 15. If necessary, a run-off election will be held on Friday April 19. For more information contact Mary whitker at 377-7022
