A driver on Interstate 20 may have been driving "recklessly" with the aid of prescription drugs.
Diane Patrick, 41, of the 11400 block of Sparks Davis Road, Keithville, was arrested Tuesday by Minden Police and charged with possession of CDS. Sch. IV (Soma).
According to police reports, an unidentified caller reported an alleged reckless driver and followed the vehicle to a local motel on Sibley Road.
"Ofc. Chris McClaran and Ofc. Justin Kemp responded," said police Chief Steve Cropper. "Once on the scene, McClaran made contact with Patrick in the parking lot – she appeared to be impaired."
Cropper said McClaran obtained Patrick's identification and ran a crminal history check, based on her background.
"Officers asked for consent to search her vehicle and belongings," Cropper said.
When Patrick refused, officers reportedly made contact with Ofc. Danny Turner and requested K-9 officer Harley to respond.
"The K-9 unit ran a check around the vehicle and alerted on Patrick's two luggage bags and her purse," Cropper said.
In the purse, officers reportedly located a prescription bottle containing five Hydrocodone pills and eight Soma tablets.
"Patrick had a prescription for the Hydrocodone but not the Soma," said the chief. "Since she was not observed driving by the officers – she was already out of her vehicle when they arrived – Patrick could not be charged with driving impaired."
Diane Patrick was booked at the Minden Police Department and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
