Benton tops Tide

The Minden Crimson Tide hosted the Benton Tigers in an important District 1-4A game Friday night at Griffith Stadium.

And the visiting team came out on top, as the Tigers took a 5-2 decision over the Tide.

Benton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but Minden fought back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead.

Thomas Pevy led off the inning with a single and Turner Francis reached on an error. Both runners moved up a base on a Benton error.

Hutton Leppert then drove in Pevy with a sac fly, with Francis moving to third. Francis would later score on a passed ball.

Benton would tie the score in the top of the sixth and then score three more in the top of the seventh to take the win.

Sawyer Stephens led the Tide with two base hits and Francis double. Leppert added a RBI.

Minden will play at Northwood on Tuesday.
