Immortality – Not Yet

A verse just heard in a sermon caught my interest in a new way. In Romans 2:6, 7, Paul speaks of the judgment of God "Who will render{give} to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life." Notice that those who finally receive eternal life are those who "seek . . . immortality" which is unending existence. To seek something indicates two things – that there is something considered worth seeking, and that one does not yet possess that thing.
