Funeral Services for Mr. Sammie Williams will be held Saturday, August 20 at 2 p.m. at the Fourteenth District Building with Minister Freddie Harrison, officiating. Interment will follow at Mayflower Cemetery.

Sammie Williams, Sr. was born Nov. 8, 1934 in Minden to Richard and Leola Miller Williams. He was the eighth of 11 children.

At an early age, Sammie united with St. Rest Baptist Church. He later moved to Mayflower Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. J. Jones. He was a faithful member until his health failed.

He united in holy matrimony to the late Bobbie Jean Harrison Williams on Oct. 31, 1971. To this union, 10 children were born.

He departed this earthly life on August 15 at Willis Knighton Pierremont Hospital. Seven brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory four special daughters, Barbara Ann Hawkins (Earnest), Leola Smith (Marcus), Jennifer Seamster (Rickie) and Lakesishia Richardson (Timothy), all of Minden; six sons, Alvin Ray Williams (Sharon), Sammie Williams, Jr. (Demeshia), Donald Ray Williams (Chaka), Sammie Williams, III. (LaMeteries), Tyrone Williams and Kelvin DeWayne Williams (Kera), all of Minden.

Others include one brother, S. T. Williams of Minden; three sisters, Bertha Faulkner of Wilmington, Delaware and Pearline Williams of Minden; Mary Jean Williams of Itta Bena, Mississippi; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Ola Lathan (Albert) and Mary Key; five brothers-in-law, Codie Harrison, J.C. Harrison, Oscar Harrison, Chester Harrison, Jr. and Freddie Harrison (Doris), all of Minden; 26 grandchildren; god-daughter, Pam Murray; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held today (Friday, August 19) in the chapel of Kennon's Mortuary from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. with family hour from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
