You’ve come a long way, Baby

Have you ever heard of a 10-year-old boy having a valid driver's license? Or a 20-year-old woman having a driver's license and had never driven a car, or even sat under the steering wheel of a car.? In fact she had the driver's license for almost three years before she started taking driving lessons.

Both are true and many more such stories. Back in the 30s and the 40s, wives did not often drive the family car, and many did not even know how to drive. And so in the early 40s the State of Louisiana passed a law that every driver must buy a driver's license and keep it upon their person when operating a motor vehicle. And therein is the story.
