Piney Hills Master Gardeners sponsor 4-H Garden Contest

Piney Hills Master Gardeners, a volunteer servie organization to the community, has sponsored the 4-H garden contest for the fifth year. Fifteen young gardeners from all over Webster Parish participated in maintaining a 100 square-foot garden containing corn, tomatoes, bell peppers and green beans.

The young farmers had to plan, weed, water, fertilize and maintain their gardens from April 1 until judging day on June 11. Keeping a journal of their activities while gardening was a part of the contest, also.
