DWI suspect is carted off by deputies

MILLER_MAGANDriving while intoxicated is against the law, even if the vehicle is a golf cart.

Magan Miller, 25, of the 800 block of Fenskin Drive in Haughton, was arrested at Champion Park Speedway when she took a golf cart without the owner's permission and drove it into a grandstand pole.

Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton said Miller appeared to be intoxicated at the time.

"She caused a scratch on the front of the golf cart, and the complainant wished to file charges for unauthorized use of a moveable," Sexton said. "When patrol deputy Jack Davis attempted to take her into custody, she resisted arrest and that charge was added also."

She was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

Other arrests

In an unrelated incident, Webster Parish Sheriff's deputies arrested Mark Wise, 50, of the 100 block of Emerald Drive for driving while intoxicated, improper lane usage and speeding.

Deputy Tony Matteson, Lt. Angela Evans made the arrest, assisted by Minden Police officers John Anderson and Darrell Hughes.

Officers clocked Wise traveling 61 miles per hour in a 35 mile-per-hour zone.

Although Wise was arrested by deputies, he was taken to the Minden Police Station before being transported to BDCC.
