Deacon Jimmy W. Flournoy

Deacon Jimmy W. Flournoy Services for Deacon Jimmy W. Flournoy, 58, will be held in the 14th District Building, 123 Bailey Street in Minden, on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetary in Homer. Visitation is 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012 (today) at Benevolent Funeral Home in Minden.

Jimmy W. Flournoy was born July 30, 1954 to Mr. Willie and Mrs. Omeria Peters Flournoy in Minden, Louisiana and entered into rest on September 25, 2012 in Bossier City. His commitment to Christ was confessed at an early age at the Blue Run B.C.   He later united with the Mt. Pilgrim B.C. 


He received his formal education in the Webster Parish public school system and was a 1972 graduate of Minden High.  He attended Louisiana Tech University, Ruston where he studied architectural design. He later attended Commercial College in Shreveport.

Jimmy later entered into the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge.

He was wed in holy matrimony to Miss Regina Gayle Kennon in March of 1977. To this union three children were born.  Jimmy was an ordained deacon of the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. There he served in various leadership positions.  Among his most cherished ministry was that as youth director, mentor and leader of the Christian Warriors Bible Study Drill Team. 

He was an employee of International Paper Company Wood Products Division for 24 Years. Upon closure of IPCO he resumed his work career at David Wade Correctional Facility where he remained until his illness. Jimmy was proceeded in death by: his father Willie Flournoy; brother Willie Flournoy Jr.; and sister Mary Ann Flournoy Myles. Jimmy leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Regina; three children Mr. Kordney Flournoy (Shantay), Colorado Springs, CO., Mr. Kerry Flournoy (Misty), Springhill, LA and Miss Kori Flournoy, Minden, LA; mother, Mrs. Omeria Peters Flournoy; brothers, Mr. Charles Flournoy (Venita), Mr. Richard Flournoy (Audrey), Mr. Robert  Flournoy (Stephanie) all of Minden, LA.; mother-in-law, Mrs. Cora Seamster Kennon; sister-in-law Beverly Kennon Thornton (Shelly) all of Minden, LA.;  brother-in-law, Gary Kennon (Sue Ann), Doyline LA; sister-in-law, Knakita Glover, Dallas, TX.; four granddaughters; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be: Kordney Flournoy; Kerry Flournoy; Richard Flournoy; Justin Flournoy; Charles Flournoy; and Robert Flournoy.
