Have You Seen Jesus Lately?

If you want to see Jesus right now, where would you have to look? In Hebrews 4:14, 15 we read "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin."

"But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them" 7:24, 25. Jesus finished His work on the cross. It is by faith that we can now see Jesus in heaven carrying out His priestly ministry on our behalf. This, however, is not the only place we can see Jesus.

It was in one of Christ's many discourses that He spoke of a judgment scene in which the Son of man was depicted as separating sheep (the saved) from goats (the wicked). The judgment issue -- what was or was not done. As recorded in Matthew 25:34-36 "Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me." In this story, the saved are baffled. They can't remember ever doing such things for Jesus. "The King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me" verse 40. Does it take a stretch of the mind to think of Jesus when you see people in need, including those who aren't clean, pleasant, thankful or deemed worthy? Jesus said when we help them; it's reaching out to Him!

Where else can we see Jesus? It is in "the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints. . . which is Christ in you, the hope of glory" Colossians 1:26, 27. In Galatians 3:27 we read "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ." We see Jesus in our fellow Christians who have "put on Christ" and pray that they see Jesus in us.

I ask the question, have you seen Jesus lately?
