SPRINGHILL — The Doyline Panthers got their first win of the season on Friday, with a 14-0 shut out over Plain Dealing in the North Webster High School Tournament.
Peyton Goerner picked up the win for the Panthers, who pounded out seven hits in the win.
In the Panthers' other two games in the tournament, Doyline lost 10-2 to Castor and 15-0 to North Webster.
Against Castor, Gage Brunson pitched well, but took the loss.
"They scored four on us in the first inning and then we scored two in the bottom of that inning," Doyline head coach John Austin said. "And it stayed that way until the seventh when Gage just ran out of juice. They put six on us in the seventh. It was a closer game than the score leads you to believe."
Against North Webster, the Panthers used five different pitcher during the game, with Goerner taking the loss.
Doyline will host North Webster today, beginning with the JV game at 4 p.m
