UCAP needs assistance

Cupboard almost bare at program’s headquarters

In today's distressed economy, more and more people are turning to ministries such as the United Christian Assistance Program (UCAP) for help.

"It's really something when a family comes in, and something has gone wrong in their lives and they can't afford to keep their bills paid," said UCAP volunteer Madelyn Gilbert. "Many times it is women with children and the man of the house has left the woman and children. Women come in very emotional because they know it all depends on them. Then we have older people who have income from social security, but it's not enough because the price of gas or electricity went up."
