A funeral service honoring the life of Mr. James Dale "Slim" Misenheimer, 82, will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Walnut Road Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Morgan, the Rev. Randal Murphy and the Rev. Jake Vandenberg officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill.
Visitation will be held today (Thursday) from 5 until 8 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home.
Mr. Misenheimer peacefully entered into heaven Tuesday, June 21, 2011. He was born Dec. 3, 1928 in Hampton, Arkansas, the first of six children of Earl Edward and Lucille Wisinger Misenheimer. At age 19, he moved to Springhill to begin his work career at International Paper. Retiring after 41 years, he worked as a security guard for 15 additional years.
A resident of Springhill since 1948, Mr. Misenheimer served faithfully as music director and was a loving member of Walnut Road Baptist Church for more than 40 years. Music was his joy and throughout his Christian life, he praised and glorified God through song as a member of several quartet groups, including the Melody Men. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl and Lucille Misenheimer. Mr. Misenheimer was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Ruby Elkins Misenheimer of Springhill; daughter, Paula M. Schildroth and husband, Mark of Springhill; son, James Alan Misenheimer and wife, Sherry of Benton; grandchildren, Jordan, Nathan, Kaylee, Kaitlyn, Ashley, Brandon and Hayden; brother, Morris "Tinker" Misenheimer of Hampton, Arkansas; sisters, Barbara Riddle and husband, Bernard of Walker, West Virginia, Shirley Oliver and husband, Ferrell of Fordyce, Arkansas, Mary Hawkins and husband, Dennis of Florence, Alabama and Peggy Massey of Bossier City; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bill Carter, Jr., Jeff Harper, Hayden Johnson, Brandon Misenheimer, Jordan Schildroth and Nathan Schildroth. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Palmer and the Men's Sunday School Class of Walnut Road Baptist Church.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Michael Rokaw and Associates at Northwest LA Nephrology, Dr. Larry Broadwell and Dr. Roy Fleniken and the staff of Northwest LA War Veterans Home for the loving care given to Mr. Misenheimer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Walnut Road Baptist Church on his behalf.
