Sex for money

Danny_Ray_WimberlyBusinessman charged with solicitation

A local businessman, expecting to pay a woman for sex, instead opened his hotel room door to four Webster Parish Sheriff's detectives Tuesday night.

According to Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton, 56-year-old Danny Ray Wimberly, who lists a Shreveport address, has been charged with pandering and prostitution.

"A 32-year-old female reported to our office that her employer – Wimberly – solicited her for sex while she rode in the car with him from Ruston on Saturday," Sexton said. "She told him she could not (have sex) on that date, and Wimberly told her they could on another day."

Wimberly then reportedly gave the woman $120.

Sexton said the victim used her cell phone to capture the solicitation on video.

Detectives Scott Tucker, Dustin Reynolds, Barry James and Tommy Kemp then began recording phone calls made by Wimberly to the victim.

"Wimberly advised the victim that her supervisor was going to suspend her and dock her two days pay for missing work on Monday," Sexton said. "But Wimberly said he could take care of that and would make up for the money missing from her check"

Arrangements were then made for the victim to meet Wimberly at a hotel in Minden, allegedly for the purpose of having sex.

"Wimberly said he would bring her beer and also give her more money," Sexton said. "As arranged, when Wimberly checked into the hotel, he called the victim and told her which room he was in."

Sexton said when Wimberly answered the knock on the door, detectives were waiting on the other side.

"They advised Wimberly of his Miranda rights and placed him under arrest," Sexton said. "In the room was a six-pack of beer."

The sheriff said when detectives interviewed Wimberly at the scene, he admitted he was there to have consensual sex with the victim.

Wimberly is currently held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on $1,000 bond.
