Deadline nears for Summer Art Camp at the Farm

The week long camp for kids that focuses on creating works of art out of natural material and recycled objects still has a few openings. According to instructor Chris Broussard, a few spots remain for the June 13-17 while there are several openings for the June 20-24th camp. Deadline to register for either camp week is Friday, June 3rd.

Chris Broussard, a local professional artist has been the main instructor for the art camp since its inception. Mrs. Broussard, the once founder and owner of The Children's Center has been teaching art to children for more than twenty five years.

Her vast experience in bringing the joy of art to children has created quite a following of young budding artists who return each year for this summer experience. "The children will create several pieces of art while they are here," comments Mrs. Broussard. "We usually try to complete a project a day. "

The camp will run from 9 a.m.- noon each day and a morning snack is provided. Cost of the camp is $125 with all supplies and snacks included. Children enrolled will also receive a free camp tee shirt.

Earth camp is held each year on the four acre festival site known as the Farm located at 417 East Union in Minden. Earth Camp is a project of Cultural Crossroads of Minden, Inc., the official arts agency for Webster Parish.
