Lakeside Warrior Lance McGuire signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Bossier Parish Community College last Friday morning.
McGuire went 7-4 with a 0.58 ERA this season for the District 2-2A Champion Warriors.
His success this season did not suprise his head coach Bob Gray.
"He had a great year, was one of the more dominate pitchers in the area," Gray said. "When we rolled him out there this spring, we pretty much knew his part of the business was going to be taken care of. If we had swung the bat a little better, there's no telling what he could have accomplished."
Gray said that the Warriors depended on McGuire like no other pitcher.
"He pitched all of our big games," he said. "Whenever we played anybody good, we put him on the mound. I watched a bunch of the state tournament this weekend, and I didn't see many pitchers better than Lance."
Gray said McGuire has all it takes to succeed at BPCC, but that it's up to him to make it happen.
"It's always an adjustment when you move up a level," Gray said. "So he'll have to show he's mentally ready to handle the jump, because physically his stuff is good enough to pitch up there right now."
