Webster Junior High will host a five-school junior high basketball that starts today and runs through Saturday. Teams from Webster Jr. High, North Webster Jr. High, Lakeside, Haynesville, and Plain Dealing will take part.
All games will be played at Webster Junior High and admission will be $5.
The Webster Wolves enter the tournament with the #2 seed and an 8-2 record. Head coach Milford Parker said his team has played well as of late.
"Our only two losses were to our arch rival, North Webster Jr. High," he said. "We have finally started to develop some much needed chemistry on defense."
The Wolves have won five out out of their last six games.
"A lot of that is due to the emergence of Gunner Stephens perimeter shooting and the consistent play of Jermiah Cox and L'Jarius Sneed," Parker said.
The Wolves will face Lakeside in the first round of the tournament, a team that they have beaten twice this season.
"We can't look past lakeside," Parker said. "They are a well coached team and very scrappy on defense. That could pose a threat to not only us, but any of the teams in the tournament."
