DOYLINE— The Doyline Panthers and Lady Panthers swept a pair of home games from New Living Word Monday night, as the Lady Panthers won 65-45, and the Panthers got a last-second 66-65 win.
The Panthers' Lawrence Hester hit a lay-up with just .6 second left to give the Doyline boys the win.
"NLW was shooting a pair of free throws with 5.6 seconds left," said Panther head coach Michael Normand said. "And they missed both and we got the rebound and went down and made the shot to get the win."
Hester led the Panthers with 17 points and Justin Lindsey added 14.
"Justin came off the bench in the third quarter and gave us a spark," Normand said. "He hit three three-pointers and scored all of his 14 points in the third."
The Lady Panthers had a much easier time in their victory.
"We played them on Saturday also, and beat them pretty handily," Normand said. "So I didn't feel like we came out full speed last night. I told the girls that we just made enough plays to win and that our overall athletic ability wore them down."
Shantrell Johnson led the Lady Panthers with 32 points and Amber Ary scored 15.
