South and north Webster Parish suffered extensive damage, leaving Minden virtually unscathed following reported tornadoes Tuesday night.
At least one tornado was reported in Shongaloo on Bud Lee Road, while Hwy. 531, Franklin Road, Ted Riser Road, Perot Road and Bistineau Church Road in south Webster suffered extensive damage with downed trees and power lines.
Heavy rain and strong winds wreaked havoc on Louisiana from the Texas line across the northern part of the state, and it may not be over yet.
According to the National Weather Service, Webster and surrrounding parishes remained under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 a.m. today.
A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is on tap for today. Some of the storms could be severe.
It will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 80 degrees, with a west wind between 15 and 25 miles per hour (mph) and gusts as high as 35 mph.
The forecast tonight is partly cloudy, with a low around 49. Northwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to between 5 and 10 mph. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.
