Northwest Louisiana under tornado watch

The National Weather Service is Shreveport has issued a tornado watch for northwest Louisiana until 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Forecasters say there is a moderate risk of severe thunderstorms across much of northwest Louisiana, east Texas and southwest Arkansas.

According to the NWS, a trough of low pressure will interact with instability from storms earlier this week.

Winds pushing into the area with an updraft rotation have the possibility of producing severe storms, hail, tornadoes, straight-line winds and heavy rain.

Webster Parish could get up to three inches of rain.

The storms are expected to weaken by early Wednesday morning.
